Allison Holtzman

Allison Holtzman, Senior Counsel in the Employment & Labor Law Department, represents and counsels employers in all areas of employment law, including state and federal wage and hour matters, and all aspects of employee personnel issues.  To aid employers and prevent employment-related claims, Allison conducts training classes on various topics, drafts employee handbooks, personnel forms and documentation, prepares employment agreements and audits businesses for wage and hour compliance.  Additionally, Allison conducts detailed investigations into employee complaints, misconduct and inappropriate behavior. 

 

Allison also litigates in federal and state courts and represents employers in class action and individual claims, and in administrative proceedings, including responding to charges filed with the Department of Fair Employment and Housing, the Equal Opportunity Employment Commission, and the Department of Labor Standards Enforcement (DLSE) with respect to wage and hour, sexual harassment, wrongful termination, discrimination, breach of employment contract, unlawful business practices, non-solicitation, trade secrets, and other employment related claims.  Additionally, Allison also handles audits on behalf of employers by the DLSE, the United States Department of Labor and the Employment Development Department.

 

 

Allison began her legal career at Lewis Brisbois Bisgaard & Smith, LLP handling various aspects of employment and labor litigation and advising for employers.

 

 

Allison received her Bachelor of Arts degree, with honors, in Political Science from the University of Wisconsin, Madison.  She earned her Juris Doctor degree from the University of Southern California Law School in 2002 and was admitted to the California Bar in 2002.  While at USC, Allison served on the Interdisciplinary Law Journal and the Review of Law and Women’s Studies, and was a founding member of the Family Violence Clinic.
