Barry Weisz is the Managing Partner at Silver & Freedman. He was the Chair of the Business & Tax Department from 1999-2009 and has handled corporate and real estate matters since 1978. Barry has been the lead attorney in numerous corporate mergers and acquisitions and acts as outside general counsel for a wide range of companies and has drafted a broad variety of corporate documents, including purchase and sale agreements, LLC operating agreements, bridge loan documents, warrants and stock options, shareholder agreements, license and distribution agreements, employment agreements, and phantom stock plans. His clients include manufacturing, distribution, transportation, service, medical and real estate companies. Barry has also been involved in all aspects of real estate transactions for 30 years, including purchase agreements, leases, financing and construction.
In 2010 and 2011, Barry was named by Los Angeles Magazine to the list of Southern California Super Lawyers, an honor bestowed on only 5% of the lawyers in Southern California, for his expertise in the representation of Closely Held Businesses.
Barry is admitted to the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, all of the United States District Courts in California and has several published opinions in both state and federal court. For many years Barry sat as a Judge Pro Tem in the Los Angeles Superior Court, the Beverly Hills Municipal Court and the Los Angeles Traffic Court. He also taught business law at California State University, Northridge and has taught business law to both college and post graduate students at West Coast University.
Barry received his J.D. from the University of California, Los Angeles School of Law in 1978. Respectively, he received his B.A. from University of California, Los Angeles in 1975.
Prior to joining Silver & Freedman, Barry was a Partner in the Corporate Department of Jeffer, Mangels, Butler & Marmaro LLP. Previously, he was a Founder and Managing Partner of Inman, Weisz & Steinberg in Beverly Hills.
