Daniel J. Katz is a partner at Silver & Freedman and a member of the firm's Business and Tax Department and Real Estate Practice Group.
Dan specializes in real estate transactions and corporate restructurings, and often acts as outside general counsel to his clients.
Dan's practice is national and covers a spectrum of real estate transactions, including acquisitions and dispositions of portfolio and single asset office, multi-family, retail, resort and recreation, mixed-use and industrial properties as well as the development, construction, management, financing, leasing, repositioning and workout of both domestic and international assets, real estate aspects of a wide variety of corporate transactions, and the acquisition, disposition, structuring and capitalization of real estate companies.
Dan adds value by addressing the fundamental structure and strategy of transactions and striking agreements that are satisfactory to all sides. He implements strong managerial and administrative skills, in addition to legal expertise, to see transactions from start to finish in an efficient and well documented manner.
A leader in the community, Dan coaches youth soccer and serves on the lay board of the Mesivta of Greater Los Angeles and of Congregation Bais Yehuda.
Dan received his J.D. from Rutgers University. He is a member of the California State Bar, as well as the New York and New Jersey State Bar Associations. Dan has also been a regular contributing writer to the American Bar Association's Real Estate Quarterly Report.
Prior to joining Silver & Freedman, Dan worked in the real estate departments of Debevoise & Plimpton and Paul Hastings.
