Greg Weisman is a partner at Silver & Freedman and Chair of the firm's Business & Tax Department, as well as its cutting edge Apparel Industry Practice Group. Greg's practice encompasses a wide array of transactional matters, including trademark/copyright protection and enforcement, employment issues, intellectual property licensing, corporate and LLC matters, the drafting and review of any and all types of business and commercial agreements, anti-trust and pricing concerns, insurance and factoring issues, sale or merger transactions and all business and legal matters germane to the apparel, footwear and accessories communities. Over the years, Greg's practice has expanded into the entertainment community, where he is honored to represent several high-profile musicians, athletes, actors, models and other celebrities in connection with their merchandising, endorsement, branding and other "non-entertainment" and "off-the-field" business endeavors, both within and outside of apparel.
Greg has participated as a guest lecturer at UCLA Extension, FIDM, Otis College of Art & Design, the California Copyright Conference, the National Association of Record Industry Professionals and the International Textile & Apparel Association on business and legal issues concerning the fashion industry. He has lectured on licensing at the MAGIC apparel tradeshow in Las Vegas, given seminars on Action Sports athlete endorsement contracts at the ASR tradeshow in San Diego and the Surf Industry Manufacturers' Association "Boot Camp," and he has spoken on behalf of the International Association of Skateboarding Companies (IASC), the Small Business Development Center, Fashion Business Incorporated and the California Fashion Association. Greg is a founding member of the Licensing Committee of the IP Section of the California State Bar. He is also an active member of the Textile Professionals Club, as well as the Los Angeles County Bar Association. Women's Wear Daily. He has also been recognized by Los Angeles Magazine in its annual list of "Super Lawyers" from 2008-2011 and was formerly named to its list of "Rising Stars" from 2004-2007, an honor bestowed on the top 5% of attorneys under 40 in Southern California.
Greg received his J.D. from the University of San Diego School of Law in 1994 and his B.A. from the University of California, Berkeley in 1991.
Prior to joining Silver & Freedman, Greg began his career as a tort litigator at the boutique firm of Reinis & Reinis, where he commenced his unique specialization in the representation of members of the fashion industry.
