Kenneth S. Fields is a partner at Silver & Freedman, a member of the firm's Business & Tax Department and Chair of the firm's Real Estate Practice Group. Ken's practice involves all aspects of real estate transactions, including buying and selling individual properties and multi-property portfolios, construction and development and leasing of industrial, retail and office properties, and permanent, construction, mezzanine and other real estate secured loans. His clients include industrial, retail and office building owners and tenants, commercial brokerage firms and real estate investors and syndicators. Ken has assisted clients in buying or selling hundreds of millions of dollars worth of real estate assets, has negotiated leases affecting millions of square feet of space and has helped clients raise hundreds of millions of dollars in real estate syndications. Ken frequently represents owners and tenants in single-tenant "big-box" leases. Ken understands his clients' business objectives, and strives to help achieve those objectives in an efficient and cost effective manner. He maintains a business-like and deal-oriented approach, focusing on what is important to his clients.

Ken was a founding member of the Advisory Committee of the Conejo Valley Boys and Girls' Clubs, and previously served as the Chairman of the Legal Committee of Heal the Bay. His published articles include "Know Your Loans-Protect Your Company's Interests by Getting Familiar with Loan Disbursement," which appeared in Construction Today and "Letters of Intent May be Binding", which appeared in The Real Estate Journal.

Ken received his J.D. from Loyola Marymount University, Los Angeles School of Law in 1989. While in Law School, Ken was a member of the Loyola of Los Angeles Law Review and the St. Thomas More Law Honor Society. He also served as a Judicial Extern to Judge Richard A. Gadbois, Jr., of the United States District Court. Ken received B.A. from the University of California, Los Angeles in 1986.

Before joining Silver & Freedman, Ken was a Partner in Woollacott Jannol Fields, LLP and in Fields & Pearl.

Ken has been married for over 15 years to his wife, Karen, and they have two children, Spencer and Julia. When Ken is not working, he likes to vacation with his family, preferably on a quiet beach somewhere (without his BlackBerry if his family has anything to say about it).
