Mitchell Stein is a partner at Silver & Freedman and a member of the firm's Litigation Department. Mitch has handled a variety of matters on behalf of businesses and individuals, ranging from merger and acquisition disputes, unfair competition, trade secrets, and construction cases to actions involving environmental damage claims and real estate disputes. He has years of trial and arbitration experience, and has regularly argued attachments, injunctions, and other business law and motion proceedings. He has successfully handled the defense of several ADA cases and has given speeches on matters of interest to businesses and real estate owners. In addition to his trial and arbitration work,  he has also argued appeals in both state and federal appellate courts.

Apart from being a business litigator and counselor, Mitch is also a recognized expert in food safety. He was a lead defense counsel in one of the largest product liability cases in the history of the United States, the infamous 1993 Seattle E. coli litigation, commenced by Jack in the Box. He has spoken on food safety at the annual convention of the National Meat Association and before other groups, and has been quoted in published news reports.

Mitch has also been active in providing "pro bono" service to the community. He has served as a Judge Pro Tem of the Los Angeles County Municipal Court, as a Landlord Tenant Mediator for the Unlawful Detainer Trial Courts of the Los Angeles County Municipal Court, and as an arbitrator for the Los Angeles County Bar Association Attorney Client Relations Section. He has also been rated "AV," the highest possible peer review rating for legal ability and ethical standards, under Martindale-Hubbell's Peer Review Process.

Mitch received his J.D. from Loyola Marymount University School of Law in 1978, an institution he attended at night while working full time during the day. He obtained his B.A. from the University of California, Irvine in 1974.

Mitch is an avid Metallica fan and believes it is the greatest band since the Beatles. Mitch also believes that the iPhone and Kraft Macaroni and Cheese are the most useful inventions of the last 50 years.
