Mitchell N. Reinis is of counsel at Silver & Freedman and a member of the firm's Litigation Department. He has over 30 years of in-depth experience dealing in the areas of business and intellectual property litigation in state and local courts, appeals, business formation, debtor and creditor relations, financial and business planning, licensing, copyright and trademark. Mitch's practice involves representation of a wide variety of businesses, in many industries, including financial, apparel, fabric, music, food, jewelry, and real estate. Mitch has successfully prosecuted and defended approximately 1,000 lawsuits.
Mitch has served as a Judge Pro Tem in the Beverly Hills Municipal Court. He has lectured in various legal educational programs and has been a featured speaker on issues affecting the apparel and textile industry, copyright, civil litigation and appellate procedure. Mitch is the former Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Channel Pointe Homeowners Association and the Westdale-Mar Vista Homeowners Association.
Mitch is a member of the California State Bar and is admitted to practice in the United States District Courts in the Central, Southern and Northern Districts of California, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, and the United States Supreme Court. He has also been admitted to practice before the United States Courts on specific cases in Boston, Boise, Nashville, New York, Oklahoma City and San Antonio.
In 2011, Mitch was asked by the authors to review the new book "Trademark Surveys: A Litigators Guide," authored by James T. Berger and R. Mark Halligan and published in Oxford University Press. His review is featured prominently on the book.
Mitch earned his LLB from the Boalt Hall School of Law at the University of California, Berkeley. He received his B.S. in business/accounting from the University of California, Berkeley.
Prior to joining Silver & Freedman, Mitch was a partner at Buchalter Nemer, where he was part of its Litigation and Business Practices groups, as well as Chair of the Intellectual Property group. Prior to that, he was a partner at Reinis & Reinis for 16 years.
Mitch is married to Toni. They have four children and a growing number of grandchildren. Toni is a founder of "SOVA" and "New Directions," non-profit organizations helping the poor and veterans. Mitch has assisted in supporting these organizations.
Mitch coached little league baseball for over 20 years and plays and coached numerous adult softball teams. In college he played varsity football and rugby.
