Los Angeles, Calif.—Silver & Freedman, a
highly-regarded business law firm in Los Angeles, has
recruited three high-profile attorneys—all partners from
a well-known L.A. firm—to further strengthen their
ensemble of legal professionals. It also has named
several current partners to new positions, according to
managing partner, Barry Weisz.
Joining the firm as new partners at Silver & Freedman
are Jon Karp, Jeff Lewis and Gary Wexler. Karp and Lewis
will be assuming roles in the Business & Tax Department,
while Wexler will become part of the Litigation team.
The addition of the new partners bolsters what is
already a formidable force within the legal industry.
Lewis transfers over three decades of experience in the
areas of estate planning, business, tax, and real estate
to Silver & Freedman, while Karp, a prolific author,
speaker and licensed CPA (inactive), provides valued
expertise in representation of mid-market businesses and
professionals, income tax planning, business succession
planning, and estate and gift taxation. Wexler,
considered a top-tier litigator within legal circles,
specializes in business, corporate and real estate
litigation.
“These gentlemen bring with them highly-developed skill
sets, client and community contacts, and most of all,
are notably respected,” said Weisz. “Each of them will
fit well within our firm’s culture. Needless to say, we
are delighted to have them join our energetic team.”
Internal changes include new titles for two Silver &
Freedman partners and the naming of one new partner.
William Holcomb has become an equity partner, Kenneth
Fields a new administrative partner, and Gregory Weisman
the new head of the Business and Tax Department.
“Holcomb has been a critical component to the success of
the Business and Tax department for quite some time and
we are thrilled to have his involvement as an equity
partner” said Weisz. In addition to the Business and
Tax Department, Holcomb will also be heavily involved in
the Wills and Estates practice.
In his new role, Kenneth Fields will be second in
administrative command after Weisz, who formerly headed
the Business and Tax Department. Fields specializes in
commercial real estate and joined Silver & Freedman in
2003. Greg Weisman, who previously served as
Partner/Shareholder in the Business and Tax Department,
also chairs the firm’s Apparel Industry Practice group
and is renowned within his field.
“It is a pleasure to announce that Ken has eagerly
accepted his new role as administrative partner,” stated
Weisz. “And, that Greg will oversee the Business and Tax
Department. We are enthusiastic about these new
appointments and also confident that the firm will
benefit greatly as a result of our recent changes."
